A world-class recording studio built inside a restored 1910 Salvation Army hall, designed from the ground up for sound, creativity and longevity.
Salvation began with a simple idea, to create a world-class recording studio in a space that deserved to be preserved.
The building, a former Salvation Army hall dating back to 1910, was originally set to be demolished to make way for residential development. Recognising its potential, we acquired the property at auction with the aim of giving it a new purpose.
What followed was a complete transformation. The original structure was carefully restored, while new extensions and subterranean studio spaces were constructed to create a modern recording facility within the historic shell of the building.
The exterior remains true to its original design, a nod to architect Ernest Clevett, while the interior has been reimagined as a fully purpose-built studio environment.
The result is a space that combines character, scale and history with the precision and performance of a modern recording studio.
From the outset, every aspect of Salvation was approached with intent. An expert team was brought together to ensure that each element of the studio, from acoustics and engineering to design and workflow, was developed by specialists at the highest level of their field.
One of the world's leading acousticians, John Flynn was given complete freedom to design Salvation as a modern, world-class recording facility. Through his company ADG, he has worked on hundreds of studios over the past five decades, including Abbey Road Studios (Control Rooms 1 & 2), Olympic Studios, SARM Music Village, and Skywalker Sound in San Francisco.
A highly respected acoustician, Sam Toyoshima collaborated closely with John Flynn on the design of Salvation, contributing to the acoustic precision and performance of the studio. His work spans a range of world-class recording environments, bringing a detailed and considered approach to studio design at the highest level.
Founder of the renowned Eden Studios, Mike Gardner has worked with a wide range of influential artists including Oasis, Stereophonics and Joe Jackson, bringing decades of studio experience into the development of Salvation.
With extensive experience across major label projects for BMG and Universal Music Group, Paul has also been responsible for the long-term maintenance and technical operation of Air Edel Studios since 1989.
